Columbia, MO – The Stephens College soccer team opened its 2025 season on Thursday evening, hosting Central Methodist University in Columbia. The Eagles came away with a 4-0 win, but the match gave the Stars valuable opportunities to build early-season experience.
Junior goalkeeper Petra Brncova played a key role in the opener while facing a steady attack from Central Methodist. Her performance kept the Stars competitive throughout the night as the Eagles outshot Stephens 22-1.
Senior forward Kayla Apodaca registered the team's first shot on goal of the season, while Stephens earned a pair of second-half corner kicks and continued to push forward offensively. The game also gave several returners and newcomers meaningful minutes on the field, helping the Stars establish rhythm and chemistry early in the year.
Stephens will return to action on Wednesday, August 27, back at home, to face Culver-Stockton College in their next non-conference matchup.
