Columbia, MO - Stephens used a strong all-around performance to earn a 76–51 conference win over Cottey on Wednesday evening at Silverthorne Arena. The Stars pulled away in the middle quarters and never looked back, improving to 4–2 in conference play with the decisive victory.

The game opened with a competitive first quarter, as both teams traded baskets and finished the period tied at 13–13. Stephens found its rhythm in the second quarter, turning up the defensive pressure and forcing Cottey into difficult possessions. The Stars limited Cottey to just five points in the quarter while pouring in 26 of their own, creating separation before halftime. That stretch proved to be the turning point, as Stephens carried a double-digit lead into the break.

Stephens continued to build momentum in the third quarter, outscoring Cottey 22–14 and extending the lead to as many as 29 points. The Stars moved the ball efficiently on offense and consistently attacked the paint, while their defense remained disruptive, generating turnovers and transition opportunities. Although Cottey showed some fight in the fourth quarter, Stephens maintained control and closed out the game with poise.

Individually, Stephens was led by Quimari Shelton, who recorded a game-high 22 points and added eight rebounds to anchor the effort. LaiJanique Perry-Ell followed with 17 points, contributing both inside scoring and trips to the free-throw line, while Simone Clay finished with 15 points, highlighted by five made three-pointers.
