Stars Shine Bright Against Harris-Stowe

Stars Shine Bright Against Harris-Stowe

We had a beautiful Saturday afternoon as we were able to celebrate our senior, Lindsay Picha, who will be graduating this spring with her Educational degree. Congrats to Lindsay for all you have achieved and good luck to you in your future!

Clara Pyle was the starter for the Stars in game one against a winless Harris-Stowe squad, but being winless doesn't mean they don't have some pop in their batting order. The Stars hit a bit of a rough patch in the first inning, walking the first runner and then allowing a homerun giving Harris-Stowe a 2-0 had the team pressured, but they stay composed. Emily Kingsolver made a quick pitching change, getting in her previous days starting pitcher, Grace Tath. Tath pitched 3.2 innings, allowing three runs while striking out six. The good news is the Stars came out to swing! With a total of thirteen hits and fourteen runs, we saw a triple and homerun from Avery Throckmorton reaching the five RBI mark, while the middle of the order racked up two triples, and four doubles, and a load of singles. With this game only going five innings, the Stars seem to be finding their groove after winning their fourth consecutive game.

Elise Kendrick was our game two starter after pitching a flawless game the day before, she was ready to repeat that outing and did just that. Kendrick pitched four strong innings, allowing one hit and striking out five. When the team comes out aggressive and swinging, good things are coming. Harris-Stowe allowed twelve hits and fifteen runs, with a majority of those runs coming from every part of the batting order. The Stars win this one in five innings of play, 15-2 and are now riding a five game winning streak.

The Stars take on Cottey College this Tuesday at 2 PM and 4 PM. Keep up the momentum Stars and we'll see you back at home on Friday!
