St. Louis, Mo. - The American Midwest Conference (AMC) announced yesterday the 2023 AMC Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams, regular season awards winners, Academic All-Conference Team, and Champions of Character Team.
Ten players from the Stars Soccer team were honored in the AMC All-Conference Awards.
- All-Conference Honorable Mention/Champions of Character - Lily Cook
- As a defender, Cook gained a goal in her 2023 season against UHSP. Cook was also named AMC Champions of Character Team for her contribution to the NAIA Five Core Character Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.
- All-Conference Honorable Mention - Amanda Coppeti
- Securing the defensive line for the Stars, Coppeti racked up 1,183 minutes in the 2023 season.
- All-Conference Honorable Mention - Sophia Ramos
- Saved over 90 goals in the 2023 season.
- All-Conference Honorable Mention - Olivia Wheeler
- Wheeler gained 970 minutes in the 2023 season with shots on goal percentage of 0.700.
- All-Conference Honorable Mention - Kailee Wisber
- Powerhouse player on the forward line making 10 goals for the season and a personal career high. Wisber gained 149 shots on goal in her career.
These awards are determined through a rigorous selection process involving coach nominations and adherence to specific criteria:
- All-Conference: Coaches nominate players, and the top six defenders, six midfielders, five forwards, and two goalkeepers earn the prestigious First-Team All-Conference designation. Those who receive votes but do not make the First Team are recognized with Honorable Mention status.
The AMC has also released the list of student-athletes to earn Academic All-Conference recognition. To be eligible for Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must be in their second semester at their AMC institution, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and finish the year on the team. *fall sports freshmen are not eligible for the award in their first season.
